Retail Summit 2008 will focus on the hottest topics of global retail market
16.1.2008

The study based on views of hundreds of retail and consumer goods companies executives from 48 countries worldwide shows that ranking of top 5 priorities 2007 brought above all the growth of the topics related with Consumer health and nutrition (at present the global No.1 priority of retailers!), and a striking high score of Corporate Responsibility. While in 2006 CSR belonged rather among marginal priorities, this year it has achieved the third position.
Therefore it is most gratifying that the program of Retail Summit 2008 (to be held in Prague on February 5-6, 2008) prepared long before the release of this essential CIES study, will give a lot of attention to above mentioned entirely new priorities. Questions of corporate responsibility are a part of main summit program (joint paper of the Dean of FMV VŠE Dana Zadražilová and Constantin Kinsky, the head of consulting company Roland Berger CR), and there is also a specialised discussion workshop with presentations of representatives of Globus, Tesco Stores or Johnson & Johnson, a/o. Topics of Consumer health and nutrition will be accented in the paper of Ondrej Tomas (Managing Director GfK Praha) within the context of overall demand side development.
Among other priorities ranked in the Top 5 “top of mind” category in CIES study we can find questions of retail/brand offer, human resources and new technologies. These 3 priorities are not as surprising – they occupy a longer term stable position in minds of executives, therefore also Retail Summit 2008 offers a space for more detailed discussion about them. Retail/brand offer optimisation will not only be covered by speeches of top managers in the main program block (e.g. the parts dealing with retail best practices or prospects of food and non-food retail markets), but also in numerous discussion sessions (e.g. Retail & Shoppers or Retail & Brands). Human resources have always belonged to fixed topics of summit – this year the focus will be on systems of performance management and communication. The workshop Retail & New Technologies is on the other hand a hot novelty evoked by the need to discuss impacts of essential innovations on retail market. Opportunities offered to retailers by information and communication technologies will be moreover pointed out in the main conference program in the speech of Matts Johansen (Telefonica O2).
Traditional organizer of Retail Summit 2008 is the company Blue Events (the former INCOMA Consult), in co-operation with SOCR ČR, VŠE and trade journal Moderní obchod.
